Pacificpoker.com Poker Review, overall score:
Written by Darren Meredith (blog) (email)

888 poker or Pacific Poker as it is also known is a very well known site. How it has become to be such a popular site I really don’t know. When I first played on this site a while ago I thought it was fantastic. After now having played on several other sites I still have a soft spot for 888, as it thought me how not to play poker. Well not 888, but the players that frequent the site.

The download
The size of the download is small and is done within a few moments. The setup can then be slightly confusing between the real money and play money side. When you click the icon to sign in you have to choose between money play and practice play. This I feel is very misleading, with both having the word play. All that said though, they make it simple enough to hand over your cash.

The tables
The tables can be very fast paced, with everyone trying to bluff each other. People seem to play very aggressive, which if you have the nuts; you can win easy enough; however it makes it very hard to bluff.
There are plenty of people playing on here and you will never be waiting round long for a game. They offer Omaha, Hold’em and stud. The most popular of these is Hold’em poker. Pacific offer many levels of tournaments, which is good if you are a new player. You can learn a lot by playing on here, just sit back and watch. Play when you have a good hand and don’t try to over play a half decent hand. Chances are on Pacific you will be beaten. I have seen some really bad beats on here. The cards that come out are not what you would expect and would hardly ever some out in a real game. The good thing though is they do offer a bad beat bonus. To win this you have to have four of a kind 8’s or better and to then be beaten.

Bonus Amounts
Pacific poker offer 25% bonus up to £50. Which is not massive; but as with other poker sites, you have to play a number of hands before you get your bonus. There are better bonus amounts out there, but unless you are a frequent player don’t worry about any bonus amounts.

My thoughts
I played on this site for a short amount of time when I was fairly new to poker, but now I have seen and played on other sites I don’t go on here much. Maybe once a month I will have a look around the site to see what is happening, but the site has very little information on it and it seems every time you click on something it will ask if you want to download the software. I find it very annoying. The site is aimed at people who are new and don’t know much about poker. The casino is also all over the site and I find very annoying.

If you are new to poker and are looking for a good place to start, then Pacific isn’t a bad place to start. I would say that Party Poker is better for new poker players. No matter what time of day or night you want to play then you will always find someone to play against. You might then want to try TGF Poker. We will not lie to you, if you sign up through our banners, then we do get a bonus, but at the same time you will also get bonus offers through our links.

Happy playing poker and let us know how you get on by visiting our forum.
